The 2226/2840 is the chronograph of the first Royal Oak Offshores. It is a Jaeger-LeCoultre 889-based automatic with a Dubois Dépraz 2840 cam-operated chronograph module on top. It powers 20 watches in this library. The 2226 is Audemars Piguet's version of the 889, the thin automatic base it shared with several maisons, running at 28,800 vph with a 42-hour reserve; the 2840 module adds the chronograph and its counters above it. It is the construction of the Offshore from the 25721 of 1993 through the 25862 and the Las Vegas and Jay-Z editions, until the 3120-based [3126/3840](/calibers/audemars-piguet-ap-3126-3840) succeeded it in 2007.
