Terms of Service

Tourbillon Vault is an independent reference library for mechanical and luxury watches: reference numbers, specifications, movements, and editorial material. It is provided for information and research.

It is not a dealer, auction house, appraiser, or authentication service. Nothing on the Site is an offer to sell a watch, a valuation, an authentication, or financial or investment advice. Decisions to buy, sell, or insure a watch should be made with a qualified specialist, not with this database.

We compile catalogue data from manufacturer documentation, archive material, and public sources, and normalise it into a single schema so that different brands can be compared on the same terms. We take that work seriously, and it is still imperfect: references get transposed, production years are disputed, and sources disagree with each other.

The Site is therefore provided on an “as is” basis with no warranty that any entry is complete, current, or correct. Verify anything you intend to rely on — particularly before a purchase — against the manufacturer or a recognised specialist. If you find an error, please tell us; we check corrections against the source.

Some features — saved watches, collections, and alerts — require an account. You are responsible for the accuracy of the details you provide and for keeping your credentials secure, and for activity that takes place under your account.

You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these Terms or is used to harm the Site or other users.

You keep ownership of anything you submit — collection notes, comments, corrections. By submitting it you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, and use it for the purpose of operating and improving the Site, including incorporating a factual correction into the catalogue.

You are responsible for what you submit, and you confirm you have the right to submit it. We may remove content that is unlawful, misleading, infringing, or abusive.

You agree not to:

• scrape, crawl, or bulk-extract the catalogue, or otherwise systematically copy it, without our written permission;
• place load on the Site that interferes with its operation for other people;
• attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Site, its infrastructure, or another user’s account;
• misrepresent the Site’s data as your own, or as manufacturer-endorsed;
• use the Site for any unlawful purpose.

Ordinary personal use — reading, searching, saving watches, sharing a link, quoting a short extract with attribution — is welcome and needs no permission.

The Site is free to read and funded by advertising, including Google AdSense, and by affiliate programmes, including the eBay Partner Network. We may earn a commission when you follow certain links and make a purchase, at no additional cost to you.

These arrangements do not influence what appears in the catalogue, how a watch is described, or the order in which results are shown. See our Privacy Policy for how advertising cookies are handled.

The Site’s design, editorial writing, and the compiled and structured form of the catalogue are ours or our licensors’, and are protected by copyright and database rights.

Watch brand names, model names, reference designations, and logos are the trademarks of their respective owners. They are used on the Site for identification and reference only. Tourbillon Vault is independent, and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or otherwise connected to any watch manufacturer.

If you believe material on the Site infringes your rights, write to brainspicks@gmail.com with enough detail to identify the material and we will review it promptly. Photographs are covered separately in the next section.

Photographs of watches and calibers in the catalogue, including the images on caliber pages, are the copyright of the respective manufacturers or their photographers. We do not own them and do not claim to. They are reproduced at reduced size, unaltered beyond resizing, beside the manufacturer’s name and the reference or caliber they depict, so that the item described can be recognised and the rights holder is identified on the same page.

The photographs are used for identification and reference only. We do not sell, license, or supply them to anyone, and nothing in these Terms grants you any right to copy, download, or reuse them. The permission for ordinary personal use above covers the catalogue text and links, not the images. Their presence does not imply that any manufacturer sponsors or endorses the Site.

If you hold the rights to a photograph on the Site, you choose what happens to it: a credit beside the image, replacement with an approved press image under its own terms of use, or removal. Manufacturers who would rather we used their official press material are welcome to send it, and we will use it in place of what we have.

To make a request, write to brainspicks@gmail.com with “Image rights” in the subject line and tell us the page address, which image you mean, who you are, and your connection to the rights holder. We act on notices within seven days. Where a request is credible on its face we take the image down first and deal with any questions afterwards; we do not ask for proof of ownership before removing it. We keep a record of every notice and of what was done about it.

The Site links to third-party websites, including retailers and marketplaces. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, their prices and availability, or their privacy practices. Your dealings with them are between you and them.

We do not guarantee that the Site will be available uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of it, including catalogue entries and features, at any time.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, or for any loss of profit, data, or opportunity, arising from your use of the Site or your reliance on information found on it — including any decision to buy, sell, or value a watch.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above, and material changes will be communicated through the Site where appropriate. Continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept the revised Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. If you use the Site as a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your country of residence.
