In Context

At 44 mm it is a large watch — well above this catalogue’s 40 mm median, and enough to dominate a narrow wrist. At 12.5 mm it is a tall case, and it will catch on a cuff. The case back is closed, so the movement stays out of sight, and the sapphire crystal will resist everything short of deliberate abuse. 100 m is genuine swimming resistance — more than the shape of this watch suggests it would need.

It is quartz, so it will hold time far more closely than any mechanical watch here, and asks for a battery every few years rather than a service.

X823101K1C1S1 stands on its own in this catalogue — no other reference here shares its base number. It pairs a green gradient dial with a titaplast, stainless steel case. It was a limited edition.

Breitling's SuperQuartz designation for a thermocompensated quartz chronograph base. A sensor reads the temperature of the quartz crystal and corrects for its drift, which is why the calibre is chronometer-certified — a rating standard quartz movements do not carry — and holds roughly ten seconds a year rather than ten a month. It drives a 1/10th-second chronograph and an end-of-battery indicator, and powers the Endurance Pro.

79 other watches in the library run the Breitling Caliber 82.
