In Context

At 33.5 mm it is small by current standards, in the range most wristwatches occupied before cases began growing through the 1990s. The case back is closed, so the movement stays out of sight, and the sapphire crystal will resist everything short of deliberate abuse. 50 m covers rain and hand-washing comfortably; it is not a watch to swim in.

It is quartz, so it will hold time far more closely than any mechanical watch here, and asks for a battery every few years rather than a service.

1512.30.00 stands on its own in this catalogue — no other reference here shares its base number. It pairs a silver dial with a stainless steel case.

The 1532 is Omega's three-hand quartz movement with date for the 33 mm to 35 mm cases, an ETA 255.111 with Omega's finish. It powers 36 watches in this library. It shows hours, minutes, seconds and the date, with a stepper motor advancing sixty times a minute, rate adjustment by inhibition and an end-of-life indicator that makes the seconds hand jump when the battery runs low. Omega finishes it with circular graining, rhodium plating and gilded engraving. It is 1.95 mm high with 6 jewels, and its battery lasts about three and a half years. In the library it sits under 20 [Constellation](/brands/omega/constellation) references and 16 [De Ville Prestige](/brands/omega/de-ville) Quartz references at 34.4 mm, in steel, yellow gold and two-tone. The 34.4 mm case accounts for 14 references and the 35 mm for 13. The [1456](/calibers/omega-1456) and [1376](/calibers/omega-1376) are the two-hand quartz movements in the smaller cases of the same collections, and the [4061](/calibers/omega-4061) the current three-hand quartz with the long-life battery.

35 other watches in the library run the Omega 1532.
