In Context

At 39.5 mm it sits just under the modern norm — the band that suits the widest spread of wrists. The case back is closed, so the movement stays out of sight, and the sapphire crystal will resist everything short of deliberate abuse. Rated to 30 m, it is protected against rain and splashes and nothing beyond that.

The movement winds itself from the motion of your wrist. 48 hours of reserve is enough to set it down on Friday evening and find it still running on Monday. At 25,200 vph the seconds hand advances 7 times a second.

424.13.40.21.03.001 stands on its own in this catalogue — no other reference here shares its base number. It pairs a blue dial with a stainless steel case.

The 2627 is the 2500 with a small seconds and a power reserve indicator, the movement of the De Ville Co-Axial Power Reserve. It powers 35 watches in this library. The [2500](/calibers/omega-2500) is the ETA 2892-A2 rebuilt around the co-axial escapement, and the 2627 adds two displays to it: the seconds move to a subdial at 9 o'clock and a hand at 3 o'clock reads the remaining reserve of the 48-hour barrel. It keeps the 2500's 25,200 vph beat, gains two jewels to 29, and is COSC-certified. Every reference here is a [De Ville](/brands/omega/de-ville): 27 in the 39.5 mm Prestige Co-Axial Power Reserve, 7 in the earlier 38.7 mm case and one at 35 mm, in steel, red gold and two-tone. Three are limited editions. The [2403](/calibers/omega-2403) is the no-date derivative of the same base, and the [8500](/calibers/omega-8500) the in-house movement that replaced the family; the glossary defines the [power reserve](/glossary/power-reserve) the 2627 displays.

34 other watches in the library run the Omega 2627.
