In Context

At 40 mm it is sized to the current mainstream: 40 mm is the median across every watch measured in this catalogue. The case back is open, so the movement is visible without taking the watch apart, and the sapphire crystal will resist everything short of deliberate abuse. Rated to 30 m, it is protected against rain and splashes and nothing beyond that.

The movement is hand-wound, so winding it becomes part of the day rather than something the watch does for you. 60 hours of reserve is enough to set it down on Friday evening and find it still running on Monday. At 25,200 vph the seconds hand advances 7 times a second.

432.13.40.21.03.001 stands on its own in this catalogue — no other reference here shares its base number. It pairs a blue sunburst dial with a stainless steel case. Introduced in 2020.

The 8511 is the hand-wound version of Omega's in-house co-axial movement, introduced in 2014 for the De Ville Trésor. It was the first hand-wound Omega caliber built to resist 15,000 gauss. It powers 19 watches in this library, every one a 40 mm Trésor. It keeps the [8500](/calibers/omega-8500) family's two barrels in series for a 60-hour reserve, the [co-axial escapement](/glossary/co-axial-escapement), the free-sprung balance with a silicon spring and the 25,200 vph beat, and removes the rotor, which lets the Trésor's case stay slim and shows the movement's bridges through the display back. It has 39 jewels at 29 mm across, and it carried the Master Co-Axial name. In the library it powers 19 [Trésor](/brands/omega/tresor) references at 40 mm, in steel, Sedna gold and yellow gold. 6 are limited editions. The [8910](/calibers/omega-8910) is the Master Chronometer hand-wound movement that succeeded it in the Trésor, and the [3861](/calibers/omega-3861) the maison's other hand-wound anti-magnetic caliber, in the Moonwatch.

18 other watches in the library run the Omega 8511.
