In Context
At 45 mm it is a large watch — well above this catalogue’s 40 mm median, and enough to dominate a narrow wrist. The case back is closed, so the movement stays out of sight, and the sapphire crystal will resist everything short of deliberate abuse. 100 m is genuine swimming resistance — more than the shape of this watch suggests it would need.
The movement is hand-wound, so winding it becomes part of the day rather than something the watch does for you. 72 hours of reserve puts it well past a weekend — several days off the wrist and it is still going. At 21,600 vph the seconds hand advances 6 times a second, the slower and more audible rate of an older design.
PAM01385 stands on its own in this catalogue — no other reference here shares its base number. It pairs a brown dial with a stainless steel case. It was a limited edition.
Inside: Caliber P.6000
Explore this caliber →The P.6000 calibre is a hand-wound movement with a power reserve of three days. It is said to be created by Panerai’s watchmaking Manufacture in Neuchâtel though more likely made by Valfleurier, and made to replace the Unitas 6497 movement used in the entry-level models. The calibre is 15½ lignes in diameter and beats at 21.600 bph. For the 'Base' models the small seconds is omited.
13 other watches in the library run the Panerai P.6000.
