In Context

At 41 mm it is sized to the current mainstream: 40 mm is the median across every watch measured in this catalogue. At 10.95 mm thick it is about average for a modern wristwatch. The case back is closed, so the movement stays out of sight, and the sapphire crystal will resist everything short of deliberate abuse. 50 m covers rain and hand-washing comfortably; it is not a watch to swim in.

The movement winds itself from the motion of your wrist. 40 hours of reserve carries it overnight, but not through a weekend in a drawer. At 21,600 vph the seconds hand advances 6 times a second, the slower and more audible rate of an older design.

26325PL.OO.D310CR.01 stands on its own in this catalogue — no other reference here shares its base number. It pairs a blue dial with a platinum case. It was a limited edition. Introduced in 2012. Beyond the time it carries a chronograph.

The 2385 is the Royal Oak Chronograph's movement from 1997 to 2021: an integrated column-wheel chronograph on the Frédéric Piguet 1185 base. It powers 120 watches in this library. The 1185 is one of the thinnest automatic chronographs ever made, at 5.5 mm, with a column wheel and a vertical clutch in a 26.2 mm diameter, and it is what allowed a chronograph to sit in a Royal Oak case without spoiling the proportions. Audemars Piguet's version runs at 21,600 vph with a 40-hour reserve and 37 jewels, with a date at 4 o'clock and the small counters that give the Royal Oak Chronograph its face. The in-house [4401](/calibers/audemars-piguet-ap-4401) replaced it in 2021. In the library it sits under 77 [Royal Oak](/brands/audemars-piguet/royal-oak) chronographs, the 39 mm 25860 and 26300, the 41 mm 26320 of 2012 and the 38 mm 26315, 41 [Royal Oak Offshore](/brands/audemars-piguet/royal-oak-offshore) references in the 37 mm ladies' case and 2 Millenarys. The 37 mm case accounts for 40 references, the 41 mm for 34 and the 39 mm for 28. 33 are limited editions. The [3126/3840](/calibers/audemars-piguet-ap-3126-3840) is the modular chronograph the larger Offshores used over the same years, and the glossary defines the [chronograph](/glossary/chronograph).

119 other watches in the library run the Audemars Piguet AP 2385.
