In Context

At 44 mm it is a large watch — well above this catalogue’s 40 mm median, and enough to dominate a narrow wrist. At 16.9 mm it is very tall, and sits high off the wrist. The case back is closed, so the movement stays out of sight, and the sapphire crystal will resist everything short of deliberate abuse. 200 m puts it in dive-watch territory, well past anything daily wear will ask of it.

The movement winds itself from the motion of your wrist. 70 hours of reserve is enough to set it down on Friday evening and find it still running on Monday. At 28,800 vph the seconds hand advances 8 times a second.

AB042011.BB56.433X stands on its own in this catalogue — no other reference here shares its base number. It pairs a black dial with a stainless steel case. Introduced in 2011. Beyond the time it carries a gmt.

Inside: Caliber Caliber B04

The B04 is the B01 chronograph with a second time zone: an independently set local hour hand and a 24-hour hand for home time. It powers 81 watches in this library, most of them Chronomat GMTs. The base is the in-house [B01](/calibers/breitling-caliber-b01), a column-wheel chronograph with a vertical clutch, a 70-hour reserve, 28,800 vph and 47 jewels, certified by the COSC. The module lets the wearer jump the local hour hand forward or back in one-hour steps from the crown while the chronograph runs, with the date following, so a time-zone change is a few clicks rather than a reset. The red 24-hour hand reads home time against the dial's inner scale. The library finds it under 56 [Chronomat B01 44](/brands/breitling/chronomat-b01-44) references, the 44 mm Chronomat 44 GMT and the 47 mm Chronomat GMT, 11 [Navitimer](/brands/breitling/navitimer) GMTs, 11 Super AVI B04 Chronograph GMT 46s, and one each in the Transocean, Chronoliner and Bentley lines. Cases run from 43 mm to 49 mm, with 44 mm at 38 references, 47 mm at 18, 46 mm at 12 and 48 mm at 11. The [Caliber 24](/calibers/breitling-caliber-24) is the older 7754-based chronograph GMT, and the [Caliber 32](/calibers/breitling-caliber-32) the three-hand GMT without a chronograph.

80 other watches in the library run the Breitling Caliber B04.
