The Chronomat 44 was the flagship Breitling of the 2010s: the 2009 Chronomat B01 grown to 44 mm, with the in-house B01 movement and a 500 m case. This library holds 233 references.

About the Breitling Chronomat B01 44

The Chronomat of 1984 rescued Breitling from the quartz crisis with a mechanical chronograph built for the Frecce Tricolori aerobatic team, and its rider tabs on the bezel became the brand's mark. The 2009 Chronomat B01 rebuilt it around Breitling's first in-house movement, and from 2011 the 44 mm case was the standard. The B01, a column-wheel chronograph with a vertical clutch and a 70-hour reserve, powers 175 of the 233 references here; its B04 GMT derivative, in the 47 mm Chronomat GMT, powers 56 more.

The Breitling reference number names the movement, as the reference guide explains, so AB011 and AB041 prefixes separate the two before any other detail. The rest of the reference records case material, dial and bracelet, and it is those that multiply the collection: 233 references and 233 base references, every one a distinct combination.

The 44 mm case accounts for 205 references and the 47 mm GMT for 18. Steel is the material for 158, rose gold with steel for 47, and solid rose or white gold for 15. Water resistance is 500 m on 179 references, which was unusual for a chronograph, and 200 m on the GMT. Black, blue and white dials lead, and the Blackbird, Raven, Airborne and Flying Fish editions carry the special-series names. The median case is 16.95 mm thick.

The Chronomat B01 42 replaced it in 2020, the Chronomat B01 41 was the smaller companion, and the Super Chronomat continues the 44 mm case.
