BreitlingChronomat B01 42

The Chronomat B01 42 is the 2020 Chronomat, the 1984 design returned to its original proportions. It brought back the roller "Rouleaux" bracelet and the rider tabs, with the B01 movement visible through the back. This library holds 136 references, every one on the same caliber.

About the Breitling Chronomat B01 42

The relaunch was one of the defining launches of Breitling's redesign, and it reset the Chronomat from the 44 mm flagship of the 2010s to a 42 mm chronograph rated to 200 m. The B01, a column-wheel chronograph with a vertical clutch and a 70-hour reserve, is fitted to all 136 references, and the reference number says so before anything else: the AB0134 prefix identifies the movement and case, as the reference guide sets out.

What varies is the rest. Steel accounts for 103 cases, red gold for 16, red gold with steel for 8, and titanium and the platinum-bezel steel models for the remainder. Dials run through blue at 42 references, black at 23, green at 21, grey at 14 and red at 11, several of them tied to the Frecce Tricolori, Bentley, Triumph and Six Nations rugby editions. 93 of the 136 references are limited editions, the highest share of any Breitling collection here, because most of those partnerships were produced in numbered runs. Every case has a display back, and the median thickness is 15.1 mm.

The Chronomat B01 44 is the generation it replaced, the Super Chronomat the 44 mm continuation, the Chronomat 40 GMT the travel version, and the Chronomat 36 and Chronomat 32 the three-hand sizes on the same bracelet.
