In Context

At 29 mm it is small by current standards, in the range most wristwatches occupied before cases began growing through the 1990s. At 8.9 mm thick it is about average for a modern wristwatch. The case back is closed, so the movement stays out of sight, and the sapphire crystal will resist everything short of deliberate abuse. 100 m is genuine swimming resistance — more than the shape of this watch suggests it would need.

The movement winds itself from the motion of your wrist.

W7234812/BH27/791A stands on its own in this catalogue — no other reference here shares its base number. It carries a black dial.

Part of Breitling's SuperQuartz family, built on ETA's Thermoline platform. A single 32 kHz crystal is corrected digitally against a thermistor reading, so the movement compensates for its own temperature drift rather than running at whatever rate the ambient conditions dictate. That is what takes it to about ten times standard quartz accuracy and qualifies it for COSC chronometer certification.
