BreitlingGalactic

The Galactic was Breitling's sports-chic line from 2008 to the late 2010s: a unidirectional bezel and rider tabs on a case sized from 29 mm to 44 mm. This library holds 424 references, more than a third of them quartz.

About the Breitling Galactic

It filled the gap between the tool watches and the Chronomat, with a polished case, an oval-link "Pilot" bracelet option and heavy use of diamonds and mother-of-pearl in the smaller sizes. The size ladder was the point: 29, 30, 32 and 36 mm for the ladies' models, 41 mm for the automatic gents' and 44 mm for the chronograph. The 41 mm is the most common here at 132 references, and the 32 mm at 96.

The movements split by size. The 30 mm and 32 mm models carry the thermocompensated SuperQuartz Caliber B71, the single most common movement in the collection at 154 references, accurate to a few seconds a year rather than a month. The 36 mm and 41 mm automatics use the Caliber 49 and Caliber 37, and the 44 mm chronograph the Caliber 13. The Galactic Unitime of 2015 added a worldtimer with the in-house B35 in a dozen references.

Steel is the case for 213 of the 424, with rose gold and yellow gold two-tone accounting for another 110, and 20 references pair steel with a tungsten bezel in the SleekT editions. Water resistance is 100 m on the smaller models and 300 m on the 41 mm and 44 mm. Black, white and blue dials share the collection almost evenly.

The Colt was the plainer entry line of the same years, the Superocean the diver, and the Chronomat the line the Galactic borrowed its bezel from.
