Caliber B71

About the Breitling Caliber B71

Ordinary quartz drifts with temperature. SuperQuartz, built on ETA's Thermoline base, measures the movement's own temperature with a thermistor and corrects the oscillator's rate digitally, which brings it to roughly ten seconds a year rather than ten a month. That is accurate enough for COSC chronometer certification, which very few quartz movements carry, and Breitling certifies every SuperQuartz caliber. The B71 is the two-hand-plus-date version for the 30 mm and 32 mm cases.

In this library it sits under the Galactic 30 and 32, 154 references, with the Windrider and Cockpit ladies' models accounting for the rest. Cases are 30 mm and 32 mm almost without exception, and many are diamond-set or mother-of-pearl dialled.

The Caliber 77 is the SuperQuartz for the Colt and Chronomat 32, the B74 the three-hand version for the larger Colts, and the Caliber 78 and Caliber 79 the analogue-digital versions in the Chronospace and Aerospace.
