In Context

At 40 mm it is sized to the current mainstream: 40 mm is the median across every watch measured in this catalogue. At 10.7 mm thick it is about average for a modern wristwatch. The case back is closed, so the movement stays out of sight, and the sapphire crystal will resist everything short of deliberate abuse. 120 m is genuine swimming resistance — more than the shape of this watch suggests it would need.

The movement winds itself from the motion of your wrist. 120 hours of reserve puts it well past a weekend — several days off the wrist and it is still going. At 28,800 vph the seconds hand advances 8 times a second.

IW3289-08 is one of 6 executions of the IW3289 base reference. Underneath they are the same watch; what separates this one is a green guilloche dial and a stainless steel case. Introduced in 2025.

The 32111 is IWC's in-house three-hand automatic with a five-day reserve. It is the 32000-family movement that replaced the ETA and Sellita bases in the Mark XX, the Ingenieur Automatic 40 and the Portofino 37. It powers 36 watches in this library. It was designed as a simple, robust manufacture movement for the entry of the range: 164 components, 21 jewels, a beat of 28,800 vph and a pawl-winding system descended from the Pellaton mechanism. The reserve was 72 hours at launch and was raised to 120 hours in 2022, when the Mark XX introduced the movement to the Pilot's line, so the specification on older listings can read either way. The date is at 3 o'clock, and the diameter is 25.6 mm. In the library it sits under 16 [Pilot's Watch](/brands/iwc/pilot) references, the Mark XX and the Laureus edition, 9 [Portofino](/brands/iwc/portofino) Automatic 37s, 8 [Ingenieur](/brands/iwc/ingenieur) Automatic 40s of 2023 and 3 Aquatimers. The 40 mm case accounts for 17 references and the 37 mm for 9. Three are limited editions. The [35111](/calibers/iwc-35111) and [30110](/calibers/iwc-30110) are the Sellita and ETA-based movements it replaced, and the glossary defines the [power reserve](/glossary/power-reserve) it extended.

35 other watches in the library run the IWC 32111.
