IWCIngenieur

The Ingenieur is IWC's anti-magnetic watch, made in 1955 for engineers and scientists and redesigned by Gérald Genta in 1976. Genta's integrated-bracelet form returned in 2023. This library holds 216 references.

About the IWC Ingenieur

The 1955 ref 666 put the Pellaton automatic movement inside a soft-iron inner case, and the 1989 Ingenieur 500,000 A/m held the record for magnetic resistance for years. Genta's ref 1832 of 1976 gave it the five-screw bezel and integrated bracelet that place it beside his Royal Oak and Nautilus; the 2005 relaunch enlarged that design, the 2013 Mercedes AMG Petronas partnership pushed the line toward motorsport, and the 2023 Ingenieur Automatic 40 returned to the 1976 proportions.

The 2017 Ingenieur Chronograph, ref 3808, is the collection's largest family by some distance: 94 references on the in-house caliber 69375, in a 42.3 mm case that is the most common size here. The 80110 of the 2005 Ingenieur Automatic follows at 18, the 89361 chronograph at 15, the caliber 375 of the 1980s 3505 series at 12, and the 32111 of the 2023 model at 8. 139 of the 216 references are chronographs.

Sizes run from 34 mm to 46 mm, with 42.3 mm at 89 references, the 34 mm of the 1980s at 36, and the 46 mm Big Ingenieur at 15. Steel accounts for 136 cases, titanium for 19 and red gold for 16. Water resistance is 120 m on 188 references. Black and silver dials cover 148 of the 216, and 29 references are limited editions.

The Pilot's Watch shares the anti-magnetic inner case, and the Royal Oak is the Genta design the 1976 Ingenieur SL sits beside.
