In Context

At 42.3 mm it is sized to the current mainstream: 40 mm is the median across every watch measured in this catalogue. At 14.9 mm it is a tall case, and it will catch on a cuff. The case back is closed, so the movement stays out of sight, and the sapphire crystal will resist everything short of deliberate abuse. 120 m is genuine swimming resistance — more than the shape of this watch suggests it would need.

The movement winds itself from the motion of your wrist. 46 hours of reserve carries it overnight, but not through a weekend in a drawer. At 28,800 vph the seconds hand advances 8 times a second.

IW3808-BO is one of 94 executions of the IW3808 base reference. Underneath they are the same watch; what separates this one is a green dial and a stainless steel case. Introduced in 2018. Beyond the time it carries a chronograph.

The 69375 is IWC's in-house column-wheel chronograph of the 69000 family, introduced in the Ingenieur Chronograph of 2017. It powers 94 watches in this library, every one an Ingenieur. The 69000 calibers were designed in 2016 to replace the Valjoux-based chronographs at the entry to IWC's range. A column wheel controls the chronograph, a bidirectional pawl-winding system related to the Pellaton mechanism winds the barrel, and the reserve is 46 hours at 28,800 vph with 36 jewels and a 30 mm diameter. The 69375 has a date and a 6-9-12 counter layout; the 69370 of 2016 is its immediate predecessor, and the [69380](/calibers/iwc-69380), [69385](/calibers/iwc-69385) and [69355](/calibers/iwc-69355) are the versions for the Pilot's Chronograph and the Portugieser. Every reference here is an [Ingenieur Chronograph](/brands/iwc/ingenieur), the ref 3808 of 2017 in a 42.3 mm case drawn from the 1955 Ingenieur, 94 in all. Two are limited editions. The [79320](/calibers/iwc-79320) is the Valjoux 7750-based chronograph the family replaced, and the [89361](/calibers/iwc-89361) the larger in-house flyback above it.

93 other watches in the library run the IWC 69375.
