In Context

At 41.7 mm it is sized to the current mainstream: 40 mm is the median across every watch measured in this catalogue. The case back is closed, so the movement stays out of sight. 120 m is genuine swimming resistance — more than the shape of this watch suggests it would need.

The movement winds itself from the motion of your wrist. 42 hours of reserve carries it overnight, but not through a weekend in a drawer. At 28,800 vph the seconds hand advances 8 times a second.

TB 378.0885 stands on its own in this catalogue — no other reference here shares its base number. It pairs a black matte dial with a titanium, yellow gold case. Beyond the time it carries a chronograph.

Omega's execution of the ETA/Valjoux 7750, fitted to the Seamaster Polaris. The chronograph is integrated and cam-switched rather than modular, and the rotor winds in one direction only, as the 7750's design dictates. It is chronometer-certified. The later 1164 is the same movement with the ETA markings under the balance removed, and small changes besides.
