In Context

At 39 mm it sits just under the modern norm — the band that suits the widest spread of wrists. The case back is closed, so the movement stays out of sight, and the sapphire crystal will resist everything short of deliberate abuse. 50 m covers rain and hand-washing comfortably; it is not a watch to swim in.

The movement winds itself from the motion of your wrist. 42 hours of reserve carries it overnight, but not through a weekend in a drawer. At 28,800 vph the seconds hand advances 8 times a second.

3510.52.00 stands on its own in this catalogue — no other reference here shares its base number. It pairs a black dial with a stainless steel case. Beyond the time it carries a chronograph.

The 3220 is the movement of the Speedmaster Reduced: an ETA 2892-A2 with a Dubois Dépraz chronograph module on top. It powers 35 watches in this library, all of them the 39 mm Reduced. The Reduced of 1988 put the Moonwatch's dial on a smaller automatic case, and the 3220 is how: the thin 2892 base, whose merits the [2892 piece](/blog/the-eta-2892) explains, carries a Dubois Dépraz 2020 chronograph module, which is why the movement has 47 jewels and why the subdials sit slightly off the positions of the hand-wound Moonwatch. It runs at 28,800 vph with a 42-hour reserve, at 25.6 mm across. Every reference here is a [Speedmaster Reduced](/brands/omega/speedmaster-reduced), 35 in all, including the diamond-set Ladies' versions. Two are limited editions. The [1861](/calibers/omega-1861) is the hand-wound Moonwatch movement the Reduced was scaled down from, and the [3330](/calibers/omega-3330) the co-axial column-wheel chronograph that took over the smaller Speedmasters in 2012.

34 other watches in the library run the Omega 3220.
