OmegaSpeedmaster Reduced

The Speedmaster Reduced was the smaller, automatic Speedmaster of 1988 to 2012: the Moonwatch's dial at 39 mm on a modular chronograph movement. This library holds 45 references, every one 39 mm and steel.

About the Omega Speedmaster Reduced

It was made for wrists the 42 mm Professional overwhelmed, and it was automatic where the Moonwatch was hand-wound. The movement is the tell: an ETA 2892 base with a Dubois Dépraz chronograph module on top, which is why the subdials sit slightly off the Moonwatch's positions and why the seconds hand starts with a small jump. The 3220 is the later version, in 35 references here, and the 1143 the earlier one in 10; the 2892 piece explains the base.

Omega used the Reduced for colour. Beside the black-dial 3510.50, the collection carried white, blue, yellow and red dials, the Michael Schumacher Racing editions of the late 1990s among them, and a ladies' version with diamonds. White dials lead here at 24, then black at 7, blue at 6, and yellow and red at 3 each. 27 references have a sapphire crystal and 17 the hesalite of the Moonwatch.

Water resistance is 100 m on 32 references and 50 m on 12. The rarity median of 7, with 18 references at 8 or above, is the highest of any Speedmaster line here: the Reduced was made in many short runs, and the library reflects it.

The Speedmaster Moonwatch is the hand-wound original, and the automatic Speedmasters collection holds the models that took over the Reduced's place from 2012.
