About the Omega Speedmaster (Non-Moonwatch)

The Speedmaster became a family in the 1970s, when the Mark II, III and IV put automatic movements into barrel cases while the Professional kept its 1957 layout. The Speedmaster Automatic of the 1990s, the Racing of 2012, the Speedmaster 38 of 2017 and the Moonphase and Mark II reissues of the 2010s continued the pattern: the Moonwatch dial and tachymeter, an automatic movement and usually a date. Omega's own sub-lines, the Reduced, the Broad Arrow, the '57, the Dark Side of the Moon and the X-33, have their own pages, so what remains here is the core of the automatic range.

The caliber 3330, a co-axial column-wheel chronograph, is the most common at 48 references, in the Racing, the Speedmaster 38 and the 2014 Mark II. The 7750-derived calibers 1152, 1164 and 1151 power 43 references from the 1990s and 2000s, the last with the day and date of the Speedmaster Day-Date. The in-house 9300 and the Master Chronometer 9900 and 9904 drive the 44.25 mm models of the 2010s, including the 15 moon-phase references.

The 44.25 mm case is the most common at 53 references, then 40 mm at 48, 38 mm at 43 and 39 mm at 23. Steel accounts for 122 cases, and yellow gold, red gold, Sedna gold and ceramic for the rest. Black dials lead at 74. Water resistance is 100 m on 157 references, twice the Moonwatch's rating. 16 are limited editions, several of them Olympic series.

The Speedmaster Moonwatch is the hand-wound original, and the Reduced, Broad Arrow, '57, Dark Side of the Moon and Chronoscope hold the sub-lines.
