The 3255 is the Day-Date movement since 2015, the first of Rolex's current generation: the Chronergy escapement, a 70-hour reserve and fourteen patents. It powers 353 watches in this library. It launched in the Day-Date 40 and brought the day and date, both quick-set, to a new base with the Chronergy escapement, a lever escapement made of nickel-phosphorus with thinner, more efficient geometry, and an optimised blue Parachrom hairspring. A single barrel with thinner walls gives 70 hours. It is 28.5 mm across with 44 jewels and beats at 28,800 vph, and it introduced the Superlative Chronometer standard of two seconds a day tested after casing.
