In Context

At 39 mm it sits just under the modern norm — the band that suits the widest spread of wrists. The case back is closed, so the movement stays out of sight, and the sapphire crystal will resist everything short of deliberate abuse. 100 m is genuine swimming resistance — more than the shape of this watch suggests it would need.

The movement winds itself from the motion of your wrist. 48 hours of reserve is enough to set it down on Friday evening and find it still running on Monday. At 28,800 vph the seconds hand advances 8 times a second.

214270-0003 is one of 2 executions of the 214270 base reference. Underneath they are the same watch; what separates this one is a black gloss dial and a stainless steel case.

The 3132 is the no-date Rolex movement of the 2010s with Paraflex shock absorbers. It is the 3130 fitted with the shock system of the Day-Date II, for the Explorer 39, the Oyster Perpetual 39 and the Cellini Time. It powers 21 watches in this library, every one 39 mm. It has the Parachrom hairspring, 31 jewels, a 48-hour reserve and a beat of 28,800 vph at 28.5 mm across, and every one is a COSC chronometer, from 2015 a Superlative Chronometer. Paraflex, introduced in 2005, is Rolex's own shock absorber, claimed to raise shock resistance by half over a conventional one. In the library it powers 14 [Cellini](/brands/rolex/cellini) Time references in white gold and Everose, 5 of the 39 mm Oyster Perpetual of 2015 and 2 Explorer 214270s. The [3130](/calibers/rolex-3130) is the same movement without Paraflex, and the [3230](/calibers/rolex-3230) the 2020 no-date movement with the Chronergy escapement that replaced both.

20 other watches in the library run the Rolex 3132.
