In Context

At 42.5 mm it is sized to the current mainstream: 40 mm is the median across every watch measured in this catalogue. At 9.7 mm thick it is about average for a modern wristwatch. The case back is open, so the movement is visible without taking the watch apart, and the sapphire crystal will resist everything short of deliberate abuse. Rated to 30 m, it is protected against rain and splashes and nothing beyond that.

The movement winds itself from the motion of your wrist. 40 hours of reserve carries it overnight, but not through a weekend in a drawer. At 28,800 vph the seconds hand advances 8 times a second.

4010U/000G-H057 is one of 3 executions of the 4010U/000G base reference. Underneath they are the same watch; what separates this one is a silver guilloche dial and a white gold case. It was a limited edition. Introduced in 2016. Beyond the time it carries a moon phase.

The 4010U/000G family

A self-winding movement combining a retrograde date with a precision moon phase, made for the Patrimony. The moon disc is geared to the lunar month of 29 days, 12 hours and 45 minutes closely enough to need correcting only about once in 122 years. The rotor is openworked into a Maltese cross in 18-carat gold, and the calibre carries the Hallmark of Geneva.
