About the Rolex 4131

The 4130 of 2000 was already the simplest automatic chronograph in its class, with a vertical clutch, a column wheel and far fewer parts than a conventional movement. The 4131 keeps that architecture and brings it to the specification of Rolex's current calibers: the Chronergy escapement, more efficient and made of a nickel-phosphorus alloy insensitive to magnetism, the Paraflex shock absorbers, and a ball-bearing rotor cut open to reveal the movement. The 3135-to-3235 piece explains the escapement. The reserve is 72 hours at 28,800 vph with 44 jewels, at 30.5 mm across, and the finish includes Côtes de Genève Rolex, visible on the platinum model through the first display back on a Daytona. Every one is a Superlative Chronometer, accurate to two seconds a day after casing.

Every reference here is a Cosmograph Daytona of the 126500 generation, in steel, gold, Everose and platinum, 47 in all.

The 4132 is the same movement with a 24-hour totaliser for the Le Mans edition, and the 4030 the Zenith-based movement of the 1988 Daytona that started the automatic line.
