About the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Grande Tradition

It began in 2009 and carries the maison's most ambitious mechanisms. The Grande Complication of 2010 on the 945 combined a flying tourbillon, a minute repeater and a sky chart; the Gyrotourbillon 3 of 2013 on the 176 put a spherical two-axis tourbillon behind a digital chronograph; the Gyrotourbillon Westminster Perpétuel of 2019 on the 184 added a Westminster chime and a perpetual calendar; and the Tourbillon Cylindrique and the Répétition Minutes Perpétuelle sit beside them on the 995 and 946. 16 references carry a tourbillon, 5 a minute repeater and 2 a perpetual calendar; 19 are hand-wound and 16 automatic.

The 42 mm case is the most common at 14 references, with 43 mm and 44 mm at 7 each. White gold is the material of 18 cases, pink gold of 13 and platinum of 2; there is no steel. Blue dials lead at 15, many of them enamel, and silver at 9. Water resistance is 50 m, and 33 references have a display back. 9 are limited editions.

The Master collection holds the earlier tourbillons and the first Gyrotourbillon, the Duomètre the maison's other high-complication line, and the Reverso the shaped case that carries several of these movements too. The glossary defines the grand complication.
