About the Rolex GMT-Master

The ref 6542 of 1955 had a Bakelite bezel in red and blue, the "Pepsi", and a 24-hour hand fixed to the hour hand; the GMT-Master II of 1983 let the hour hand jump independently, so a traveller sets local time without stopping the watch, and the 1989 ref 16710 made that the standard. The 116710LN of 2007 brought the Cerachrom ceramic bezel, the 116710BLNR of 2013 the two-colour ceramic "Batman", the 126710BLRO of 2018 the Pepsi back in steel on the current movement, and the 126720VTNR of 2022 moved the crown to the left. The glossary explains the GMT distinction the 1983 change introduced.

The 3285, the Chronergy-generation movement of 2018, powers 17 references here, the 3186 of the ceramic-bezel models 13, the 3185 of the 16710 3, and the 3175 of the 1988 GMT-Master 16700 1.

Steel is the material of 11 cases, white gold of 7, yellow gold of 6, Everose of 2 and yellow Rolesor of 2. Black dials lead at 25, with green, pavé and blue behind them. The 22 base references branch into families of up to three, the gem-set 116758 and 116759 among the largest, and the rarity median is 3. Water resistance is 100 m, and none are limited editions.

The Submariner is the Oyster diver the GMT-Master's case descends from, the Explorer II the other Rolex with a 24-hour hand, and the Sky-Dweller the dressier watch with a second time zone.
