In Context

At 42 mm it is sized to the current mainstream: 40 mm is the median across every watch measured in this catalogue. At 9.7 mm thick it is about average for a modern wristwatch. The case back is open, so the movement is visible without taking the watch apart, and the sapphire crystal will resist everything short of deliberate abuse. 150 m is genuine swimming resistance — more than the shape of this watch suggests it would need.

The movement winds itself from the motion of your wrist. Its 38-hour reserve wants wearing most days; leave it off and it stops. At 28,800 vph the seconds hand advances 8 times a second.

47040/B01A-9093 is one of 2 executions of the 47040/B01A base reference. Underneath they are the same watch; what separates this one is a silver guilloche dial and a stainless steel case. Introduced in 2004.

The 47040/B01A family

47040/B01A-9093 is one of 2 variants sharing the 47040/B01A base reference — same watch underneath, different dial, bezel, or bracelet execution. Browse the others:

An automatic built on the Jaeger-LeCoultre 889, the ébauche behind a number of Vacheron Constantin calibres of the period, and fitted to the earlier Overseas. Vacheron finished and regulated the base rather than using it as delivered. It predates the in-house 5100 that later took the collection over, and the SC suffix marks the central-seconds execution.

3 other watches in the library run the Vacheron Constantin 1126 SC.
