Vacheron ConstantinOverseas

The Overseas is Vacheron Constantin's sports watch, introduced in 1996 as the successor to the 222 of 1977. It was rebuilt in 2016 around in-house movements and interchangeable straps. This library holds 101 references.

About the Vacheron Constantin Overseas

The Maltese-cross bezel is its mark, and the 2016 generation added a quick-change system that lets the bracelet, a leather strap and a rubber strap swap without tools. The second generation of 2004 had already enlarged the case to 42 mm, shielded the movement with a soft-iron cage and rated it to 150 m; the third kept the rating, dropped the cage in favour of anti-magnetic materials, and brought the movements home.

Those movements account for most of the library's count. The 5200 chronograph powers 14 references, the 5100 of the 41 mm three-hander 12, and the 5300 of the 37 mm 11. The second generation's chronograph, the 1137, sits in 10 references; it is the Frédéric Piguet 1185 the Piguet piece traces through three maisons. The ultra-thin perpetual calendar 1120 QP/1 and its skeleton version account for 14, and the 2160 tourbillon for 5. 97 of the 101 references are automatic.

Sizes run from the 33 mm quartz to 43.5 mm, with 41 mm the most common at 22 references, the 42.5 mm chronograph at 21, the second-generation 42 mm at 19 and the 41.5 mm of the perpetual and dual-time models at 14. Steel is the material of 46 cases and pink gold of 35, with white gold and titanium behind them. Blue dials lead at 28 and silver at 27. 24 references are chronographs, 16 perpetual calendars and 16 dual-time watches. Water resistance is 150 m on 77 references and 50 m on the thin complications. 7 are limited editions.

The Royal Oak and Nautilus are the watches it is measured against; the Traditionnelle and Patrimony are the dress lines beside it.
