The chronograph is integrated with a column wheel, the tourbillon sits at 6 o'clock, and the whole is cut open so that both are seen from the dial side; the movement is 35 mm across with 28 jewels, a 72-hour reserve and a beat of 21,600 vph. The 2889 is the same movement finished conventionally, with 295 parts at 8.07 mm. The glossary defines the tourbillon.

In the library it powers 13 Royal Oak Tourbillon Chronograph Openworked references at 44 mm, including the 26347 in titanium and the Offshore Tourbillon Chronograph, and 3 Jules Audemars at 41 mm. 7 are limited editions.
