9001

About the Rolex 9001

It was the most complex movement Rolex had built, with 380 parts and seven patents. The Saros annual calendar distinguishes the 30-day and 31-day months and needs correcting only at the end of February, showing the month in twelve windows around the dial; home time sits on a rotating 24-hour disc; and the Ring Command bezel turns to select which function the crown sets. It is 33 mm across with 40 jewels, a 72-hour reserve and a beat of 28,800 vph, with a Parachrom hairspring and Paraflex shock absorbers, and every one is a Superlative Chronometer.

In the library it powers the 3269xx generation of the Sky-Dweller, 40 references in yellow, white and Everose gold and, from 2017, Rolesor.

The 9002 of 2023 is the same movement with the Chronergy escapement, and the glossary defines the annual calendar and the GMT function it combines.
