BreitlingAvenger

The Avenger is Breitling's oversized tool watch, launched in 2001 with screw-locked pushers and a case built around water resistance rather than elegance. This library holds 401 references, with cases from 42 mm to 50 mm.

About the Breitling Avenger

It began as part of the Professional line beside the Emergency and the Aerospace, and its brief was durability: a thick case, a ratcheted bezel with rider tabs, and crown and pushers that lock down. The Avenger Seawolf pushed that to 3,000 m, a rating 112 of the references here carry; 249 more are rated to 300 m. The Super Avenger of 2005 took the chronograph to 48 mm, the Avenger II of 2013 refined the line, the 2016 Hurricane introduced Breitlight, Breitling's polymer that is lighter than titanium, and the 2019 relaunch reset the sizes to 43, 45 and 48 mm.

The movements are Breitling's dependable ones. The Valjoux 7750-based Caliber 13 drives 160 of the chronographs and the Caliber 17 131 of the three-handers, so almost three quarters of the collection runs on the two ETA-derived workhorses covered in the 7750 family piece. The in-house B01 appears in 59 references from the Avenger B01 Chronograph 45 onward, and the Caliber 32 GMT in 34.

The 45 mm case is the most common at 118 references, then 48 mm at 78 and the 45.4 mm Seawolf at 60. Steel accounts for 328 cases, titanium for 33, and carbon, ceramic and Breitlight for the rest. Black dials dominate at 182, and the yellow dials that mark the Avenger out from the rest of the Breitling range appear on 41. The median case thickness is 17.75 mm, the thickest of the large collections in this library.

The Superocean is the diver with a lighter case, and the Chronomat the chronograph the Avenger's bezel descends from.
