About the Breitling AVI

The collection gathers the Navitimer 8 of 2018, a plain pilot's watch without the slide rule that took its dial from the 1930s onboard clocks Breitling's Huit Aviation Department made; the Aviator 8 that renamed it in 2019; the AVI Ref. 765 re-editions of the 1953 and 1964 originals, hand-wound on the B09; the Super AVI of 2021, a 46 mm chronograph in editions named for the P-51 Mustang, the Curtiss Warhawk, the Mosquito and the Corsair; and the Classic AVI of 2023 at 42 mm.

The movements follow the size. The three-hand models run the Caliber 17, the collection's most common at 22 references; the chronographs the in-house B01 in 19 and the Caliber 13 in 11; the Super AVI GMT the B04 in 11; the Navitimer 8 Unitime the B35 world timer in 9; and the Day & Date the Caliber 45 in 9. The Classic AVI chronograph runs the Caliber 23 without its date in 13.

The 43 mm case is the most common at 39 references, the 41 mm at 31, the 46 mm at 14 and the 42 mm at 13. Steel is the material of 83 cases, red gold of 8. Black dials lead at 44, blue at 29 and green at 14, and 54 references are chronographs. Water resistance is 100 m on 94. 16 references are limited editions.

The Navitimer is the slide-rule chronograph the line sits beside, and the Premier the dress alternative on the same B01.
