BreitlingMontbrillant

The Montbrillant was Breitling's vintage-styled chronograph line of the 1990s and 2000s. It is named after the Montbrillant factory in La Chaux-de-Fonds, where the company made watches from 1892. This library holds 62 references.

About the Breitling Montbrillant

It took the Navitimer's slide rule and put it on a smaller, more classical case with a bead-set bezel, applied numerals and a domed crystal. The Montbrillant Datora added a full calendar, the Légende went to 47 mm, the Olympus carried a moon phase and four-year calendar, and the Montbrillant 01 of 2010 put the in-house movement in a 40 mm case for a short run before the line was retired.

The Datora is the collection's core: 33 references on the Caliber 21, a Valjoux 7751 with the day, date and month and without the moon phase. The B01 powers 10, the Caliber 41 of the 38 mm 9, the Caliber 23 of the Légende 7 and the Caliber 19 of the Olympus 3. Every reference is an automatic chronograph, and the 7750 piece explains the base under most of them.

The 43 mm Datora case accounts for 33 references, the 40 mm for 10, the 38 mm for 9 and the 47 mm Légende for 7. Steel is the material of 36 cases and red gold of 21, a high gold share for a Breitling line. Black dials lead at 18 and silver at 16, and the bronze-coloured dial that marked several Montbrillants accounts for 12. Water resistance is 30 m throughout. 2 references are limited editions.

The Navitimer is the slide-rule chronograph it was scaled down from, and the Transocean and Premier the vintage-styled lines that followed it.
