About the IWC Vintage Collection

The six were the Portuguese Hand-Wound of 1939, the Pilot's Watch Hand-Wound of 1936, the Ingenieur Automatic of 1955, the Aquatimer Automatic of 1967, the Da Vinci Automatic of 1969 in its tonneau case, and the Portofino Hand-Wound of 1984. Each came in steel, rose gold and platinum, the platinum in 500 pieces, with the modern movement that matched the original's: the hand-wound 98300 and 98800 of the pocket-watch family in the Pilot's and Portofino, the 98295 in the Portuguese, and the automatic 80110 and 80111 with the Pellaton winding system in the other three.

The Ingenieur 1955 is the largest family here at 11 references, the Aquatimer 1967 follows at 6, and the Portofino 1984 and Pilot's 1936 at 5 each. 21 references are automatic and 11 hand-wound. The 44 mm case accounts for 12 references, the 42.5 mm for 11 and the 46 mm Portofino for 5. Rose gold is the material of 12 cases, steel of 8, white gold of 7 and platinum of 5. Water resistance is 120 m on the Ingenieur and Aquatimer and 30 m on the dress models, and 31 references have a display back. 13 are limited editions.

The originals each have a collection of their own: the Ingenieur, Pilot's Watch, Aquatimer, Da Vinci, Portofino and Portugieser.
