PaneraiSubmersible

The Submersible is Panerai's dive watch, the Luminor case with a rotating bezel, made a collection of its own in 2019. This library holds 122 references, from 42 mm to 50 mm.

About the Panerai Submersible

Before 2019 it was the Luminor Submersible, and the older references here carry that name: the 2004 Arktos GMT and the mid-2000s Submersibles on the Valjoux-based OP III. The design has not changed in its essentials. The crown-protecting bridge of the Luminor, a unidirectional bezel with a ceramic or steel insert and dots for the minutes, and a rating of 300 m as standard, with 1,000 m and 2,500 m versions for the deep-diving models. The 2011 Bronzo put the case in bronze and became the collection's most recognisable piece, and Carbotech, BMG-Tech and Goldtech have followed.

The movements are Panerai's own three-day automatics. The slim P.900 powers 36 references, the 42 mm and the QuarantaQuattro 44 of 2022; the P.9010 21 in the 47 mm cases; the P.9000 10; and the flyback P.9100 and its regatta version 15 chronographs. The OP III survives in 12. 120 of the 122 are automatic.

The 47 mm case accounts for 62 references, the 44 mm for 34 and the 42 mm for 24. Steel is the most common case at 25, but titanium, ceramic, Carbotech and their combinations outnumber it together, which is unusual in this library and reflects the collection's brief. Water resistance is 300 m on 95 references, 1,000 m on 11 and 2,500 m on 4. Black dials lead at 59, blue at 27, and 44 of the 122 are limited editions, many for Mike Horn, Guillaume Néry and Luna Rossa.

The Luminor 1950 is the case the Submersible was derived from, and the glossary defines the bezel that separates the two.
