PaneraiLuminor 1950

The Luminor 1950 is the Panerai case derived from the 1950 prototype, thicker and more curved than the standard Luminor. It carries a heavier crown bridge and a domed crystal. This library holds 234 references, most of them 44 mm.

About the Panerai Luminor 1950

The case entered the modern catalogue in 2002 with the 47 mm PAM 127, made in 1,950 pieces, and Panerai then built its in-house movement programme inside it. The Luminor 1950 8 Days GMT of 2005 carried the P.2002, the first movement Panerai made itself, and the three-day P.9000 automatic of 2009 turned the 44 mm Luminor Marina 1950 into the collection's centre. Carbotech, the layered carbon-fibre composite, appeared here first in 2015, and the all-ceramic Tuttonero in 2013.

Every movement in the collection is a Panerai design, which separates it from the standard Luminor. The P.9010, the slimmer 2016 successor to the P.9000, is the most common at 44 references, and the P.9000 itself follows at 29. The ten-day P.2003 with its GMT hand accounts for 24, the flyback P.9100 chronograph for 20, and the hand-wound P.3000 for 10. The GMT function appears on 57 references, as many as in any other Panerai line here, and 184 of the 234 are automatic.

The 44 mm case accounts for 170 references and the 47 mm for 37; a handful go to 48, 49 and 50 mm. Steel is the case for 123, titanium for 37 and titanium with ceramic for 18, and Carbotech, Goldtech and pink gold bring the exotic materials. Black dials lead at 105, blue at 42 and brown at 29. Water resistance is 100 m on 129 references and 300 m on 87. 93 are limited editions.

The Submersible inherited the Luminor 1950 case with a rotating bezel, and the Radiomir 1940 is the parallel revival of the earlier case.
