About the Audemars Piguet AP 4302

It is a larger movement than the 3120, at 32 mm across and 4.8 mm high, and a faster one: the beat rises from 21,600 to 28,800 vph, the reserve from 60 to 70 hours, and the date is quick-set with a stop-seconds function the 3120 lacked. The 22-carat gold rotor is skeletonised and rides on ball bearings, and the movement has 32 jewels. It launched in the Royal Oak 15500 and the CODE 11.59 Selfwinding on the same day, and the 15510 of 2022 carries it with the 50th-anniversary rotor.

In the library it sits under 30 Royal Oak references, the 15500 and 15510 in steel, pink gold and white gold, and 25 CODE 11.59 Selfwinding references. Two are limited editions.

The 3120 is the movement it replaced, the 4401 the chronograph of the same generation, and the 5900 the smaller movement for the 37 mm and 38 mm cases.
