Vacheron ConstantinMétiers d'Art

Métiers d'Art is Vacheron Constantin's collection for the artistic crafts of enamelling, engraving, guilloché and gem-setting. The dial is the point of the watch. This library holds 122 references, almost all of them limited series.

About the Vacheron Constantin Métiers d'Art

The line began in 2007 with Les Masques, twelve watches reproducing tribal masks from the Barbier-Mueller museum, and it has since produced a series most years: Chagall and the Paris Opera, Les Univers Infinis with Escher's tessellations, Fabuleux Ornements, Villes Lumières, Copernicus, Les Aérostiers, the annual Legend of the Chinese Zodiac, and the 2022 Tribute to Great Civilisations with the Louvre. Grand Feu, cloisonné and grisaille enamel, hand engraving and guilloché are the crafts, and each dial is made by one artisan.

The movements are chosen to leave the dial free. The caliber 2460 G4 shows hours, minutes, day and date in four apertures around the edge, so the centre carries only the art; it and its G4/1 and G4/2 versions power 37 of the 122 references here, the most of any. The 2460 SC follows at 20, the hand-wound 4400 at 12 with its skeletonised 4400 SQ in 6 more, and the 2160, the peripheral-rotor tourbillon of the Great Civilisations series, at 12. The 1005, built on the tiny Jaeger-LeCoultre 101, appears in 6 ladies' pieces. 88 of the 122 are automatic.

The 40 mm case accounts for 65 references, 37 mm for 20 and 39 mm for 14. White gold is the material for 73 cases, pink gold for 29 and platinum for 16; there is no steel. Blue dials lead at 30, with multi-coloured enamel on 25. Water resistance is 30 m throughout. 92 of the 122 are limited editions, and 88 have a display back. The largest families are the 86073 of the Chinese Zodiac series, in platinum and pink gold, and the 86222 of Les Univers Infinis.

The Traditionnelle and Patrimony carry the same movements with plain dials, and Les Cabinotiers is the bespoke line above.
